very few things in life compare to the joy of getting lost in a good book. Well, OK, maybe donuts and coffee are better, but in the pantheon of awesome things in life, books are somewhere at the top. My favorite haunts used to include the local library or bookstore (remember those), until the Fall of 2008 when I began graduate studies. The combination of working full-time and going to school in the evenings left me with very little time to read for leisure. So, upon finishing grad school this past December, I naturally thought to gift myself a Kindle Fire. But, it looks like I’ve got a few books to get through before I get that device. Here are a few books I purchased during the past few years and never got around to reading:
Catch-22 | Joseph Heller
Cosmos | Carl Sagan
Futures 101 | Richard Waldron
The Glass Bead Game | Hermann Hesse
Heart, Self, & Soul [The Sufi Psychology of Growth, Balance, and Harmony] | Robert Frager
Leonardo Da Vinci | Kenneth Clark
Market Wizards | Jack D. Schwager
The McKinsey Mind | Ethan M. Rasiel and Paul N. Friga
The Tin Drum | Günter Grass
Thus Spoke Zarathustra | Friedrich Nietzsche
Understanding Exposure | Bryan Peterson
It’s neat looking back at this list as it conjures up some great memories, thoughts and feelings as to what I was interested at certain moments in my life.
